A driver caught driving 170 km/h on Aruba’s Green Corridor was among dozens of motorists fined during a police traffic control operation conducted last weekend.
According to the Aruba Police Force, officers from the Santa Cruz Police District carried out a general traffic control focused on excessive speed along the Green Corridor, where the maximum speed limit is 80 km/h.
Police positioned themselves at several strategic locations along the roadway, working together with the Motorized Police Unit to monitor drivers and enforce traffic regulations.
Over 100 Traffic Fines Issued
During the operation, authorities issued a total of 112 traffic tickets to drivers who were exceeding the speed limit.
Police spokesperson Liliana Rasmijn confirmed that the most serious violation recorded that evening involved a motorist traveling at 170 km/h, more than double the permitted speed on the Green Corridor.
The driver was immediately stopped by officers and issued a citation. Authorities indicated that the case may be referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the driver could be required to appear before a judge.
If the case proceeds, the motorist also risks losing their driver’s license, depending on the decision of the judicial authorities.
Two Additional Arrests
Police also reported two arrests during the traffic control operation.

The first arrest involved a minor who was caught driving a motor vehicle without proper authorization.

The second arrest involved a driver operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
Both incidents were handled by police according to traffic and criminal regulations.
Police Warn Speed Controls Will Continue
Authorities emphasized that traffic enforcement operations will continue as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety in Aruba.
The main goal of these operations is to raise awareness among drivers about the importance of respecting speed limits and driving responsibly.
Police also reminded motorists to ensure their documents are in order and to avoid driving if they have consumed alcohol.
“Plan ahead and choose a responsible driver if you drink,” police advised.
