A year-long Dornasol autism training program has started for teachers and support staff at the Aruba primary school.
The specialized course is being delivered with Windesheim and Instituto Pedagogico Arubano. Teachers will work toward roles as behavior or autism coaches, while classroom assistants will develop skills for providing additional school support.
Building local expertise
The initiative is intended to strengthen practical knowledge inside the school so staff can respond more effectively to students with different learning and behavioral needs.
Education Minister Gerlien Croes welcomed the program. IPA is expected to continue the Dornasol autism training model through future cohorts, expanding access to specialist knowledge on the island.
