ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Volunteers from the Aruba Marine Mammal Foundation and Aruba Conservation Foundation continue caring for a pantropical spotted dolphin named “Charlie” found near Aruba’s coastline earlier this week.

Prime Minister Mike Eman visited the volunteers to thank them for their efforts in protecting and monitoring the dolphin during its recovery process.

According to an official update from the Aruba Marine Mammal Foundation, the dolphin remains alive and has started showing signs of improvement, including attempts to feed again.

The situation began Monday after authorities noticed the dolphin appeared weak and was seeking refuge in shallow waters near the island’s coast.

Following established wildlife rescue protocols, volunteers have been providing continuous care and protection to give the animal the best possible chance of recovery.

The foundation reminded the public that the dolphin is not a tourist attraction and urged boat, jet ski, and sea-doo operators to maintain a safe distance to avoid disturbing the animal during rehabilitation.
