Diversification Is Key as KLM and TUI Bring More Visitors to Aruba

As part of the Aruba Tourism Authority’s (A.T.A.) strategic meetings in Europe, the management team held important discussions with key partners in the aviation and travel industries in the Netherlands. The goal: to strengthen collaboration and explore new opportunities to attract more visitors from Europe.

Aruba’s tourism growth strategy for 2026 projects a moderate overall increase of 2%, with a target of 6% growth from the European market.

The A.T.A. delegation, including CEO Ronella Croes, CMO Sanju Luidens, Area Director Europe Tirso Tromp, and Sales & Marketing Manager Europe Carl Quant, met with KLM to discuss Europe’s vital role in Aruba’s tourism diversification strategy.

KLM confirmed that for the upcoming winter season, it will add two extra flights to Aruba, running from late November through March 2026. Currently, flights shared with Bonaire maintain a 59% seat occupancy rate, and the airline will continue daily service from April 2026, with plans to introduce the Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the Amsterdam–Aruba route by 2027.

A.T.A. also met with TUI, Aruba’s leading partner in selling travel packages and accommodations in the Netherlands and Belgium. TUI operates two weekly flights to Aruba (combined with Curaçao) and reported strong growth for the winter months, with seat occupancy between 60% and 70%.

This year marks 20 years of direct connectivity between TUI and Aruba, celebrated with a special “Aruba Day” event at a major TUI travel agency in Utrecht and feature coverage in TUI’s in-flight magazine.

Beyond flights and packages, TUI also runs a travel agency in Aruba and supports local sustainability initiatives, such as projects with the Aruba Conservation Foundation and ScubbleBubbles.

A.T.A. praised TUI’s continued support and outstanding collaboration, announcing that both organizations will continue their joint marketing campaigns in 2026 and explore new events and opportunities to attract different travel segments from the Dutch market.

These meetings have reinforced the mutual trust and partnership between A.T.A. and its European partners, advancing Aruba’s broader strategy for tourism diversification and sustainable growth.
