Aruba Government Begins Renovations at De Vuyst Complex to Improve Quality of Life in Communities

ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Under the leadership of Prime Minister Mike Eman, the Aruba government has officially launched maintenance and renovation works at the De Vuyst Complex as part of a broader initiative to improve the quality of life in neighborhoods across the island.

During a press conference, alongside Minister of Infrastructure Rene Herde and FCCA, the renovation plan for the area was presented. The project includes repairs to both the façade and interior of buildings, alongside public infrastructure investments. A total of approximately Afl. 3.5 million has been allocated to enhance the surrounding environment, including roadways, recreational areas, gazebos, and community facilities.

This initiative is part of a larger government and FCCA “neighborhood by neighborhood” program, aimed at creating lasting and tangible change within communities. After the completion of renovations in Mabon, the focus is now on De Vuyst, while the planning for another project, Bushiri, is underway and will be announced soon.

This approach reflects Prime Minister Mike Eman’s vision to place citizens’ quality of life at the center of government efforts, not just in terms of economic growth, but also the direct well-being of each citizen.

In the presentation, emphasis was placed on the government’s management, which is based on a comprehensive package of well-being initiatives, including pension increases, the elimination of additional burdens for pensioners, improvements in access to medicine, and actions to reduce financial pressure on families.

The government is also working on a process to increase the minimum wage, as the current gap with the cost of living has created a deficit for many citizens. The goal is to achieve a more shared prosperity, where economic growth translates into real well-being for the community, homes, and daily life.

Furthermore, the government highlighted the ongoing challenge of maintaining cleanliness in neighborhoods. Efforts are being made in collaboration with relevant entities to create a more structured maintenance system, including the installation of permanent trash bins and improvements in waste disposal access.

Prime Minister Eman called on the community to be part of this change:
“Aruba is for all of us. Aruba is yours, Aruba is mine. Together we can make the difference.”

With the renovation of the De Vuyst Complex underway, the government reaffirms its commitment to turning vision into concrete action, with a direct impact on citizens’ quality of life.
