A crane boom struck part of the Renaissance complex in Oranjestad during work to dismantle the former Aruba Customs building on Wednesday afternoon, according to a local report.
Heavy equipment shifted while lowering a beam
The former Customs building in Playa is being dismantled with heavy equipment because its structure includes large beams. While workers were lowering one of those beams, the equipment boom moved sideways and hit the neighbouring Renaissance building, the report said.
No injuries reported
The impact occurred near a restroom area of Crystal Casino. No one in the restroom or the construction area was injured, according to the report.
Authorities attended the scene to begin the necessary investigation into the demolition accident.
