During a gathering at Capital C and Airport Dome in Curaçao early Saturday morning, Prime Minister Gilmar ‘Pik’ Pisas addressed a large crowd of public employees and supporters. The event, organized by the government, served as a festive farewell for the national players ahead of their World Cup qualification match against Aruba. The venue was described as having an incredible atmosphere, fully immersed in the “Blue Wave” spirit.
Prime Minister Pisas expressed his appreciation for the presence of Aruban Minister Wendrick Cicilia and his delegation. The Prime Minister emphasized that the union between the two nations is unbreakable. In a humorous gesture, Pisas noted that if Aruba dreams, Aruban artist and player Jeon Thiel becomes a son of Curaçao.
Minister Wendrick Cicilia stated that the Aruban delegation traveled to Curaçao to support the “Blue Wave” because Aruba and Curaçao are sister islands. He highlighted the strong economic, family, and socio-cultural ties that unite the two countries. Cicilia also mentioned that officials held conversations regarding mutual interests during the visit. Concluding his remarks, the Minister thanked Curaçao for embracing Jeon Thiel and declared that Aruba stands firmly with Curaçao as the World Cup begins.
