AZV 5% Premium Eliminated for Pensioners with Income Up to AWG 30,000 in Aruba

Aruba – The 5% AZV (health insurance) premium for pensioners with an annual income up to AWG 30,000 has been completely eliminated, reducing it to 0%. This change directly increases the net income of affected pensioners. The announcement was made by Minister President Mike Eman and Minister of Health Drs. Mervin Wyatt Ras.

This reduction complements the recent public pension increase. For those receiving AOV pensions, the elimination of the premium not only increases net pension benefits but also provides financial relief to pensioners with additional income, reducing penalties associated with mandatory premium payments.

Positive Effects for Pensioners:

  • Eliminating the AZV premium is included in pension increases for AOV recipients.
  • Pensioners with supplemental income now face less financial burden, supporting those who remain active or have additional earnings.

Restoration of Essential Medications:
Minister President Eman and Minister of Health Wyatt Ras also announced that the AZV medication package has been largely restored, covering nearly all essential medications again. This significantly lowers out-of-pocket health expenses, particularly benefiting pensioners and low-income residents.

Coordinated Social and Health Management:
Key measures include:

  • Elimination of AZV premiums for pensioners earning up to AWG 30,000
  • Pension increases
  • Financial relief for AOV recipients with additional income
  • Restoration of essential medication coverage

These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to improve social and health management in Aruba, ensuring the well-being of citizens remains a priority.

Part of the AVP–FUTURO Purchasing Power Improvement Plan:
Minister President Eman emphasized that these decisions are part of the government’s comprehensive plan to strengthen net income, reduce essential expenses, and provide greater economic security, especially for the most vulnerable communities. The AVP–FUTURO government aims to demonstrate compassionate social governance that benefits the entire community.
