Arubus Workers Refuse to Accept Being Sent ‘From Cashier to Wall’

Oranjestad (AAN): Arubus workers are no longer willing to accept being sent ‘from cashier to wall,’ a practice that the SEPPA union has been protesting for some time. According to Magaly Brito, Secretary General of SEPPA, workers are increasingly being told that they do not have a proper place to meet their demands, and the union insists that this issue must be addressed.

“In the past year, if they had even allocated half a million florins for the workers, we could have come to an agreement. If you compare this amount to Aruba’s national budget, it’s nothing! On the other hand, the ministry now wants to address it, but the previous ministry should have done this, and they didn’t,” Magaly Brito reiterated during an interview with Matutino DIARIO.

“This is a political issue that the government must stop ignoring because, in the end, these workers have nothing to do with the previous minister’s failures. When you come into office, you need to fix what’s been neglected. If you don’t want to address it, then don’t!” Brito questioned
