A newly published account of Aruba’s October 22–23 LGBTQI+ conference describes discussions on workplace inclusion, safety and respect. 24ora reported on November 3 that more than 120 participants from Saba, Sint Maarten, Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire took part. The conference has already concluded; it is not an upcoming event.
Regional exchange on workplace policy
The Dutch ministries of the Interior and Kingdom Relations and of Education, Culture and Science organised the second edition, following a first conference in Curaçao in 2024. Employers, human-resources professionals, unions, occupational-health services and social organisations were among the groups represented, according to the report.
Panels and practical sessions
The programme included regional LGBTQI+ perspectives, the responsibilities of workplace leaders and people who witness discrimination, and practical approaches to inclusion policies. Workplace Pride led interactive sessions, while Marriott Resort and FNV’s Netwerk Regenboog shared examples. The report describes an exchange of experience rather than a newly enacted workplace law.
