Aruba – Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and the Primary Sector, Geoffrey Wever, has submitted Aruba’s 2024 Annual Accounts to the Contraloria General (Algemene Rekenkamer). This submission is part of the legislative process to ensure accountability for the country’s revenues and expenditures.
In recent years, there had been delays in preparing and submitting Aruba’s annual accounts. However, significant progress has been made in recent months, with the 2021, 2022, 2023, and now 2024 accounts submitted.
The Contraloria General is responsible for reviewing the effectiveness and legitimacy of Aruba’s income and spending in accordance with the Constitution. During their review, the Algemene Rekenkamer examines whether the accounts for 2024 include all required items and comply with legal and budgetary procedures, including the 1989 Accounting Law (Compabiliteitsverordening V 1989). The audit also assesses whether management decisions achieved their objectives efficiently and effectively.
Following the review, the Contraloria General will publish a report with conclusions on the effectiveness and legitimacy of Aruba’s financial management. Recommendations will be provided to improve public finance and strengthen financial supervision. For reference, the annual accounts for 2021, 2022, and 2023 were submitted on May 15, July 7, and August 29 of 2025, respectively.
Minister Wever expressed his gratitude to the Finance Department and the Central Accounting Service for their work in preparing the 2024 accounts and reducing delays. He also thanked the Contraloria General for its constitutional role in promoting good public financial management in Aruba.
