Aruba police boat capacity has drawn concern from police union SPA, whose president Lito Laclé says the force’s maritime vessel is out of service with technical defects, 24ora reports.
Union describes repair needs
Laclé cited engine problems, oil loss and a leaking tank. He estimated repairs could cost about Afl. 100,000 and said restoring a functioning vessel was important in the short term. The estimate is the union leader’s assessment, not a confirmed repair contract.
Replacement requested for the longer term
According to Laclé, an earlier Afl. 1.8 million allocation discussed for a new boat was no longer assigned to that purpose after a legislative vote. He urged government to resolve the lack of a working police boat rather than wait for an emergency.
