The Aruba Olympic Committee (COA) has expressed its appreciation to intern Joey Francisco for his dedication and valuable contributions during his internship, which concluded during the committee’s most recent general assembly held on Saturday.

The acknowledgment followed the successful completion of Phase 2 of the Capacity Building Training (CBT) project, an initiative aimed at strengthening the management and long-term planning capabilities of COA’s member sports federations.

During this second phase, participating federations received guidance in developing strategic plans and strategic frameworks designed to improve sports governance, organizational management, and long-term development. The program included several weeks of workshops led by professionals and required careful planning, logistics, and high-level execution.

The project was carried out under the leadership of Director of Development Patrick Werleman, with significant support from Joey Francisco, who joined the COA as an intern as part of his Bachelor of Arts in Organization, Governance and Management (OGM) studies at the University of Aruba. As he nears completion of his degree, Francisco sought hands-on experience within an international sports organization such as the COA.

Throughout his internship, Francisco played a key role in supporting the development department, assisting with the organization, preparation, and execution of the CBT Phase 2 project. He maintained close communication with member federations and other stakeholders, helping ensure the project’s overall success.

During the general assembly, the Aruba Olympic Committee praised Francisco for his professionalism, commitment, and strong work ethic, noting that Aruba continues to benefit from young professionals who are well-prepared to contribute meaningfully to local and international organizations.
