Food vendors who handle food must not only ensure that their health certificates are valid, but they must also have knowledge of how to handle, prepare, and store food safely. DVG’s Food Inspection service plays a crucial role in ensuring food safety, as food service remains a very delicate and risky process.

It is extremely important to pay attention to the type of food being served to the public and understand what factors need to be considered. For example, soup is a type of food with inherent risks, and the temperature at which it is cooked must be carefully controlled to ensure it stays at the right degree after cooking.

Minister of Health and Social Affairs Mervin Wyatt-Ras emphasizes that Aruba mental health protocol must be in place to ensure clarity on when to act and when not to act. He pointed out that mental health issues are long-term problems that have not been adequately addressed over the years, leading to ongoing challenges.

“It is important that at any given moment, a person with a mental health problem has access to the right care (depending on their condition) and does not react in a way that is unexpected for their illness,” said Minister Wyatt-Ras.

He further added that it is crucial to have a steering group (stuur groep) in place, and that since he took on his role as minister, he ensured that the group continued to function effectively.

“They hold frequent meetings with various stakeholders to address the issues that arise, bringing together nearly all involved parties,” the Minister explained.

The President also mentioned the recent case where the person involved has now passed away. He emphasized the need for a solid protocol to be signed between different parties, so that clarity is achieved on when to take action and when not to. He stressed that this has been a topic of discussion among the various entities, including KPA and Backup, to formalize the Aruba mental health protocol.

“The Ministry has faced a situation that requires us to address what needs to be done, and we have different entities responsible for this. We provide specialized treatment, help, guidance, therapy, and also a second line of support, as promised to those who come to us when they feel something is not right,” concluded Minister Wyatt-Ras.
