Aruba budget questions awaiting government replies total 1,500 for the supplementary budget and 1,800 for the main budget, Parliament president Marlon Sneek told Diario in an interview published on October 20.
Replies needed before public budget meetings
Sneek said the questions had been sent to the government and Parliament was waiting for answers before convening public meetings. He also said a second supplementary budget bill still had to arrive so lawmakers could set a date for questions on it.
Other proposed laws remain in the pipeline
The Parliament president said a proposal to bring the minimum wage closer to the subsistence minimum had not yet reached Parliament. According to his account, it was proceeding toward the Raad van Advies before further government work and parliamentary consideration.
He also described a proposed expansion of financial support for families of children with disabilities. The intention he outlined was support after diagnosis rather than waiting until adulthood; the report does not establish that this change has been enacted.
Sneek said other outstanding work included the investment fund, a public meeting on the 2020 annual accounts and government responses on pending financial matters. His remarks describe the legislative workload, not completed approval of the measures.
