Aruba Bank Walk and Run 2026 celebrated its landmark 20th edition this past weekend, bringing together thousands of participants for four consecutive evenings of walking, running, and community spirit under the theme “Evolving Together.”
What began in 2005 as a modest local sporting event has grown over two decades into one of Aruba’s most cherished community traditions. This year’s anniversary edition drew participants of all ages and fitness levels, all sharing a common goal: to move, challenge themselves, and evolve together. From young children taking their first steps alongside their parents to seasoned runners pushing their personal bests, the event truly had something for everyone.
A special highlight of the 20th anniversary celebration was the introduction of the Corporate Teams category, allowing colleagues to form teams and motivate one another throughout the four-day event. The initiative reflected the campaign’s core message — that progress and success are best achieved together. Companies across the island embraced the concept enthusiastically, with teams donning matching shirts and cheering each other on through every kilometer.
Participants who completed more than 20 kilometers across the four nights received an exclusive Finisher’s Coin, a tangible recognition of their perseverance and dedication to an active lifestyle. The commemorative coin quickly became a prized memento, with many participants sharing photos of their achievement on social media throughout the event.
Aruba Bank expressed sincere gratitude to the more than 100 volunteers who contributed to making the event a success. Among them were Aruba Bank employees, representatives from various community organizations, emergency personnel, and other collaborators who worked tirelessly to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for everyone involved. Their dedication, from setting up checkpoints to handing out water and providing first aid, was instrumental in keeping the event running smoothly night after night.
Special thanks went to the event’s main partners, Subway and IBISA, as well as Cuerpo Policial Aruba, Rode Kruis Aruba, Volunteer Motor Unit, Patrishi Sports, Excelencia Catering, Elite Entertainment, MC Glennon, DJ 101, DJ Ulrich, 297Sports, Sunny Side Photography, Michael Salazar Photography, Signs 365, Believe in Yourself Foundation, Smart Systems, Total Services, and all other collaborators who lent their support during the event.
On the competitive side, siblings Christiaan Jansen and Rebecca Jansen dominated the overall standings and were named the male and female grand champions of the Aruba Bank Walk & Run 2026 after four days of intense competition. Their impressive performances capped off a memorable anniversary edition that will be talked about for years to come.
Aruba Bank thanked all participants, volunteers, and the many supporters along the route who helped make this year’s event a truly historic celebration of movement, community, and 20 years of togetherness. The event’s continued growth reflects Aruba’s deepening commitment to health and wellness, with each year bringing new participants and fresh energy to the island’s fitness culture.
Local businesses and community leaders have praised the event for its positive impact on public health awareness and its role in strengthening social bonds across the island. The Walk & Run has become more than just a sporting event — it is a celebration of Aruba’s collective spirit and determination to move forward together, one step at a time.
