On April 7, 2026, Aruba bid farewell to an exemplary volunteer known as Mrs. Anuesca Baly.
UNOCA shared the following tribute, highlighting that from 2005 to 2015, Anuesca Baly was a vital part of UNOCA’s board. She was appointed to the board by the Government of Aruba in 2005, and she carried out her role as a member with passion, discipline, and dedication.
Regarding her board membership, it is notable that Anuesca had a vision for education, the production of cultural educational materials, and the democratization of art and culture. She focused a great deal on ensuring that applicants for UNOCA funding met high standards, including guaranteeing quality, responsibility, and adherence to regulations.
Anuesca always prepared herself thoroughly to participate in board meetings. Her contributions were constructive, critical, and fair, always aimed at enhancing the cultural sector.
To the UNOCA staff, Anuesca was more than just a colleague; she was a professional who embodied dedication in everything she did. She approached all of her work with love and care. Anuesca was a true “walk the talk” commissioner, with immense respect for her country, education, and cultural education. Aruba will miss this remarkable woman who always worked tirelessly to leave behind something better than what she found.
Anuesca leaves behind a beautiful foundation and legacy for us to continue building upon.
UNOCA extends its condolences to her home, family, colleagues, and friends. May Anuesca rest peacefully in the embrace of the Lord.
