A racehorse named “Aruba Ray,” inspired by popular comedian Ray Ellin, recently clinched victory at Hoosier Park in Indiana—delighting fans of both comedy and horse racing. For the past twelve years, Ellin, famously known as “Aruba Ray,” has been producing sold-out comedy shows in Aruba featuring top-tier American comics from Netflix, HBO, America’s Got Talent, and Comedy Central.
These shows, consistently voted Number One on TripAdvisor in multiple categories like “Best Nightlife Activity” and “Best Show,” have cemented their place as must-see entertainment on the island.
Last month, Ellin was surprised by an unexpected honor—an email from horse owner and trainer Missy Beeman Essig, who named her racehorse after him. “I wanted something with Aruba in it,” said Missy, “and we love your club. It just made sense.”
The two-year-old filly didn’t just race—she won. A friend of Ellin’s texted him the thrilling news. Ellin joked, “Of course Aruba Ray won! She’s prettier and faster than I am!”
Ellin is also known for his passionate support of Aruba’s animal welfare. He sits on the board of the One Love Foundation, helping Aruba’s stray cats and dogs. In the past year alone, his comedy fundraisers in Aruba and NYC have raised over $60,000 for the cause. Additionally, he’s organized book drives to support Aruban students.
Beyond the island, Ellin hosts the podcast Wild Nights on the Prairie, and has an upcoming feature film No Longer, Not Yet releasing this year. His past credits include executive producing This Week at the Cellar on Comedy Central and directing The Latin Legends of Comedy, distributed by 20th Century Fox.
Aruba Ray’s Comedy is located at Eagle Beach, opposite Superfood, in the Eagle Aruba Resort—a true slice of New York stand-up right in the Caribbean.
