How to Be a Better Tourist in Aruba: Simple Tips for a Respectful & Enjoyable Vacation

Embrace island time and soak in Aruba’s relaxed Caribbean rhythm.

Embrace Caribbean Standard Time (CST)

Aruba’s island rhythm flows a little differently. You’ll feel it the moment you step off the plane and the trade winds greet you. Welcome to Caribbean Standard Time—where five minutes might mean thirty, and “tomorrow” may be next week. Don’t stress—it’s part of the charm!
Tip: Don’t wait until you’re starving to eat, and expect flexible timing for tours, cabs, and cruises. Take in the views, count the shades of Aruba Blue, and remember—you’re on island time now.

Respect the Local Culture & Limitations

We love that Aruba feels like home to many of our guests. But don’t forget—it’s not the same as back home. Menu items may differ, grocery brands might be unfamiliar, and prices may be higher due to import costs.
Tip: If there’s a must-have beauty item or snack, pack it just in case!

Protect Our Natural Beauty

Our beaches, reefs, and wildlife are what make Aruba unforgettable. Help us keep it that way.

🐢 Respect Wildlife Sanctuaries

Aruba’s beaches are nesting grounds for sea turtles, and our wetlands are home to the endangered Shoco owl. Avoid off-roading in restricted areas—your adventure could cost a life.

🗑 Don’t Litter

Take your trash with you. Aruba’s beauty isn’t disposable—keep our beaches clean.

🌿 Use Reef-Safe Sunscreen

Traditional sunscreen damages coral reefs. Choose biodegradable sunblock—many local brands offer eco-friendly formulas you can even have delivered to your hotel.

🪨 Skip the Rock Stacking

It’s Insta-pretty, but damaging to the ecosystem. If you must stack, take the photo, then knock it down safely (and gently—crabs live there!).
