This week, Prime Minister Eman, together with the Department of Foreign Relations (DBB), held an official meeting with the Association of Consuls in Aruba (ACCA). This marks the first formal meeting between the new AVP/Futuro-led Cabinet and the consular body.
The meeting focused on strengthening existing cooperation and continuing previous discussions. It also served as an opportunity to become acquainted with new ACCA members and to exchange perspectives on topics relevant to the communities they represent.
Consuls represent one country within another. In Aruba’s case, most consuls are Honorary Consuls—typically local individuals representing foreign nations and serving as first points of contact. There are also Career Consuls, who are official diplomats sent by their governments.
Recognizing the crucial role these representatives play in emergency support, consular services, promoting trade, cultural exchange, and diplomacy, the Prime Minister committed to holding regular meetings with the consular corps to ensure open and effective diplomatic communication.
