Minister Gerlien Croes Highlights Critical Conditions in San Nicolas Schools

ORANJESTAD (AAN): As the AVP-Futuro administration marks its first 100 days, Aruba’s Minister of Education, Gerlien Croes, has reflected on her recent visits to several schools in San Nicolas and shared her deep concern over the current state of public infrastructure.

Minister Croes described the conditions in some school buildings as alarming and noted that what she shared publicly is just 0.01% of what she has encountered. She also referenced issues with the Arubahuis in The Hague, which has reportedly been waiting three years for necessary renovation funds to be allocated.

“In nearly every department, I’m told the same thing: invoices from five years ago remain unpaid,” she stated. “We talk about surpluses, but we fail to invest in education and basic government services.”

Despite these setbacks, Minister Croes remains optimistic and committed to moving forward. “Leadership must be rooted in integrity and responsible governance, not just daily PR,” she emphasized.

She reassured the public that her Ministry is determined to overcome the obstacles and work tirelessly to improve Aruba’s educational system and government services.
