PPA Faction Demands Transparency in Rijkswet Talks, Criticizes Parliamentary Leadership

ORANJESTAD – The PPA faction, led by Otmar Oduber, has formally submitted a letter requesting that discussions around the Rijkswet negotiations be made public. Oduber emphasized that the people of Aruba deserve to know the full details of agreements that may impact the island’s autonomy and future.

Among the key concerns raised is the handling of these meetings behind closed doors. Oduber sharply criticized Parliament President Marlon Sneek, calling him a “yes-man” of the current government and accusing him of serving as its unofficial spokesperson.

“It is undemocratic and unacceptable that such crucial talks are taking place in secrecy, away from the people who will ultimately be affected,” said Oduber. He claims the leadership of Parliament is failing in its duty to uphold transparency and accountability.

The PPA is urging that all negotiations involving the Rijkswet — laws governing the Kingdom of the Netherlands — be open to public scrutiny, so that citizens can understand how these decisions will shape Aruba’s sovereignty, finances, and political future.
