Two Aruba road resurfacing projects have been officially awarded for Oranjestad and San Nicolas, DOW announced at a press conference reported by 24ora on November 4. Infrastructure Minister Rene Herde appeared with acting DOW director Francis Gomez and Arubaanse Wegenbouw’s Mattheus Beyen.
Investment funding supports recapping
Gomez said the projects were made possible by additional funding recently approved from the investment fund. They follow work continuing in Colony. The tender process for Zandweg was also reported to be underway, a separate stage from an awarded contract.
Durability takes priority within budget
DOW said roads would be paved slightly wider to help protect their edges from rainwater damage. Sidewalks and verges would be considered in a future phase when more money is available. The report does not provide contract amounts, start dates or completion schedules for the two awards.
