Aruba accessible parking arrangements need a clearer permit structure and compliant spaces, driving-schools association VRA secretary Thomas Ruiz told Diario in a report published October 31.
Ruiz questions permit arrangements
Ruiz said Aruba lacks a designated department where people with physical disabilities can obtain an official permit for reserved parking. He argued that self-printed disability symbols do not replace an official authorization. These are claims attributed to Ruiz, not an independent legal finding.
Signage and physical access also raised
He said many reserved spaces do not meet the dimensions and technical requirements he considers necessary, and that incorrect signage can complicate enforcement. Ruiz also cited access difficulties for wheelchair and mobility-scooter users at the court building.
The interview calls attention to accessibility and administrative concerns. It does not announce a new permit office, a change in parking law or a newly introduced enforcement measure.
