Gateway 2030 Phase 1B has new year-end targets for construction and operations at Queen Beatrix International Airport, according to two October 18 reports by 24ora.
Cicilia describes construction and operating targets
Tourism Minister Wendrick Cicilia said the aim is to finish construction before December 5 and have the area fully operational by January 1 of the following year, 24ora reported. The report put the investment above Afl. 100 million.
Those dates were presented as targets, not confirmation that the facilities have opened.
Airport management outlines added space and gates
In a separate progress report, 24ora said airport management was aiming to open the facilities at the end of December. Phase 1B is described as adding approximately 7,000 square metres of space, three passenger boarding bridges and three bus gates, with capacity for an additional 400,000 passengers annually, counting arriving and departing passengers.
The management report also described a subsequent Phase 2 to modernize and renovate the older terminal.
