MEP parliamentarian Rocco Tjon has questioned the absence of police funding from a proposed 59-million-florin investment package before Aruba’s Parliament.
KPA allocation questioned during debate
Tjon said the package contains no allocation for the Aruba Police Force even though officers have reported shortages involving uniforms, materials and technology. According to 24ora, the lawmaker referred to issues recently presented to Parliament by a police union.
He argued that basic workforce needs should be considered when investment priorities are set.
Some package projects await later financing
Tjon said several projects in the broader package cannot begin immediately because current financing is unavailable and may depend on supplementary funding or the 2027 budget.
His comments were opposition criticism during the parliamentary debate. The source report did not include a detailed government response, a final police allocation or a completed vote on the package.
