Five copies of the children’s book Pancho y su drum are now available through Aruba’s children’s library after author Lizette Winterdal presented the book this week.
Illustrated by Roman Gibbs, the story follows a child who uses imagination to turn an everyday object into a musical instrument, then faces a dilemma when his mother needs that object.
Book encourages imagination and reading
The library said young readers can now discover Pancho’s story through the donated copies. Winterdal writes children’s stories, poems and rhymes and describes reading as a way to visit beautiful places.
Pancho y su drum is Winterdal’s third children’s book, following Mayra su regalo and Dos lagadishi sinta riba un nanishi.
Aruban author continues language studies
Winterdal was born in Aruba and raised in San Nicolas. English and Papiamento are her first languages, and she is studying for a bachelor’s degree in Dutch as a foreign language.
