A second Aruba music consultation will be held on Saturday, September 26, to document local musical genres and support protection of the island’s intangible cultural heritage.
Session follows the first community consultation
The National Commission for Intangible Cultural Heritage said the meeting, titled “Ban Sigui Combersa di Musica na Aruba,” will examine genres identified during the first consultation. Discussion will cover their history, characteristics, instruments, dance, clothing, tradition bearers and evolution.
Meeting scheduled at the National Archives
The consultation is scheduled from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the National Archives of Aruba, Sabana Blanco 60. Musicians, researchers, cultural organizations, experts and community members with knowledge of Aruban music are invited to participate.
