Rusette Croes has been elected the new SMAC president, placing her at the head of the foundation responsible for organizing Aruba Carnival. She succeeds Darren van Ommeren after Carnival 72.
Croes brings prior board experience
Croes previously served as a SMAC board member and appeared publicly in that role in February 2024. SMAC is expected to present her with the full incoming board. The organization has directed Aruba Carnival since 2014.
Pending projects move to new leadership
The next board inherits continuing work including the Carnival Museum, government coordination, event organization, security, infrastructure and international promotion.
