Public records cited by NoticiaCla show the Sint Aloysius School renovation was carried out in 2022 and 2023, contradicting a broad recent statement that no Aruba school had been renovated since 2016.
Project covered classrooms and shared facilities
An April 2022 government presentation described work on the north and south wings, library, offices and gym, with about Afl. 2 million announced. A July 2023 release said 12 classrooms, roofing, ceilings and floors were renovated; other records described rebuilt bathrooms, drainage and asphalt work.
Wider repair backlog remains
The documented project does not remove the wider maintenance needs identified across 43 schools. It does establish that the absolute no-renovation claim was inaccurate and requires clarification.
