AVP parliamentarian Carlos Bermudez has set out a broad list of priorities for Aruba’s new parliamentary year, combining transport, labor, infrastructure, public access and economic issues.
Transport and workplace enforcement lead agenda
In two statements published by DIARIO, Bermudez said he will continue pressing for action against unlicensed transport operators, improvements to airport taxi services and clearer information for passengers. He proposed considering a multi-agency task force involving the public transport department and police.
He also called for stronger workplace inspections, an anonymous reporting channel for employees and eventual expansion of the inspection model beyond hotels to all sectors.
Infrastructure and public access remain priorities
The Carlos Bermudez priorities include a multiyear public-works plan for roads, traffic-calming measures, cleanup and vegetation management. He also cited a unanimously approved motion to study a roundabout at the Palm Beach–Caya Nelson Florencio Sprok intersection and continued attention to the closed Rooi Afo bridge.
His second statement covered free beach and palapa access, UTV and ATV regulation, fisheries, economic diversification, support for returning professionals and fair treatment of public employees. These are the parliamentarian’s announced positions and proposals; the sources did not report that all measures have been adopted.
