The Brazil Cultural Parade brought 14 groups into the streets on Sunday for an afternoon of music, traditional dress and community participation.
Three hours of music and folklore
24ora reported that the parade lasted nearly three hours and included eight live bands, five sound systems and a DJ. Families gathered along streets in Brazil and Rooi Koochi from early afternoon, while participants presented costumes and performances tied to Aruba’s history and natural heritage.
The procession began at 3 p.m. from Centro di Bario Brazil after a Mass at the local church. A group honoring folkloric figure Bernadina Growell led the route, and the final participants were still on the road after sunset.
Young participants join the celebration
Students from Colegio San Augustin and Scol Amplio Nos Cosecha were among the young people who participated. Organizers highlighted youth involvement as an important part of keeping Aruba’s cultural traditions active across generations. Students and teachers from Filomena College MAVO in San Nicolas also attended, and the school publicly congratulated Fundacion Chico Harms, participating groups and volunteers.
The Brazil Cultural Parade was organized by Fundacion Chico Harms as part of the community’s cultural weekend. The completed event follows earlier announcements about the 2026 Dia di Brazil program and the scheduled parade route.
