A Santa Rosa livestock sale is being organized as the department prepares for Aruba’s first import of new breeding animals in 14 years.
DLVV and Santa Rosa plan to sell selected existing pigs and young and adult male goats by drawing lots next week. The sale will create space and support the introduction of new genetics into the island’s livestock sector.
Registered farmers eligible
Participation is limited to registered farmers and breeders, with a maximum of two animals per buyer. Animals will be weighed and paid for through DLVV, and buyers will be responsible for transportation.
More information about the incoming animals is expected next week. The Santa Rosa livestock sale forms part of a broader effort to improve local breeding capacity.
