ORANJESTAD, Aruba — The Aruba Handgun Championship is bringing hundreds of international practical-shooting competitors to the island as Aruba hosts the 2026 Pan American Handgun Championship at Wela Shooting Range in Savaneta.
The international competition runs from August 22 through August 30 and brings together athletes competing in different divisions and categories of practical shooting.
According to event promoter Giovanni Heyliger, more than 700 competitors representing approximately 44 countries are taking part in this year’s championship.
Heyliger said hosting an international sporting event of this size represents an important achievement for Aruba, despite the extensive preparation, organization and financial investment required.
Aruba Handgun Championship Brings Global Athletes
The Aruba Handgun Championship has transformed Wela Shooting Range into an international meeting point for practical-shooting athletes during the final days of August.
Competitors must combine accuracy, speed and concentration while completing specially designed stages.

Spectators visiting Wela Shooting Range are required to follow the venue’s safety requirements.
