ORANJESTAD, Aruba – ImSan JCI Reaccreditation has been officially celebrated after Instituto Medico San Nicolas once again received the prestigious Gold Seal of Approval for Hospital Accreditation from Joint Commission International, recognizing its continued commitment to healthcare quality and patient safety.

Several dignitaries attended the celebration at ImSan in San Nicolas over the weekend to recognize the institution’s latest achievement.

Among those present were Minister of Public Health Mervin Wyatt-Ras and parliamentarians Jennifer Arends-Reyes, Dennerich Kelly and Gino Goeloe.

The reaccreditation means that Joint Commission International evaluated ImSan and determined that the institution continues to meet international standards related to healthcare delivery, patient safety and organizational management.

JCI accreditation is widely regarded as an important international benchmark in healthcare. The evaluation process examines multiple areas of hospital operations and requires healthcare institutions to demonstrate consistent standards across clinical and administrative services.

According to the information provided, the assessment includes areas such as patient care, patient safety, infection prevention and control, staff qualifications, leadership and the overall patient experience.

The ImSan JCI Reaccreditation therefore represents more than a single inspection result. It recognizes the ongoing work required to maintain international healthcare standards over time.

Achieving and maintaining accreditation requires continuous attention to procedures, professional training, patient safety protocols and quality improvement.

The report emphasized that earning JCI accreditation is not an easy process and described the renewed recognition as a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire ImSan team.

Minister Wyatt-Ras said the reaccreditation reflects the collective commitment of ImSan’s Board of Directors, management, healthcare professionals and wider staff.

He emphasized that maintaining an international accreditation requires an ongoing focus on quality, patient safety and continuous improvement rather than a one-time effort.

The ceremony also remembered the contribution of the late director Drs. Joël Rajnherc.

Under his leadership, ImSan obtained its first JCI accreditation in 2023. His contribution was recognized during the latest celebration as part of the institution’s journey toward maintaining high international standards.

The achievement was described as a proud moment not only for ImSan but also for San Nicolas and Aruba as a whole.

Parliamentarians attending the celebration congratulated the Board of Directors, physicians, nurses and the entire ImSan team for their dedication and continued professional effort.

The ImSan JCI Reaccreditation also reinforces the importance of maintaining strong healthcare institutions outside Aruba’s main hospital system.

For patients, international accreditation provides an additional indication that an institution has been evaluated against established standards in areas that directly affect medical care and safety.

For healthcare professionals, maintaining accreditation requires continued teamwork, professional development and attention to systems designed to reduce risk and improve outcomes.

ImSan’s renewed accreditation acknowledges the institution’s continued work in these areas and its commitment to providing quality medical services to the community.

The celebration concluded with congratulations to the entire organization and encouragement to continue working with professionalism, dedication and commitment to the health and well-being of Aruba’s residents.
