ORANJESTAD – Police and firefighters responded early Saturday morning after receiving reports of a vehicle on fire behind the sports field in Kudawecha.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a Hyundai Accent that had been completely destroyed by fire. Authorities believe the vehicle may have been stolen before being abandoned and set ablaze at the location.
Firefighters extinguished the remaining flames, while police launched an investigation into the incident.
Officers also took a statement from a witness who may have seen what happened. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the suspected vehicle theft and arson.
