John Hart Seeks Urgent Meeting On Censo Delays following growing concerns about difficulties citizens are experiencing when trying to register with Aruba’s Department of Civil Registry and Population Registry (Censo).

The President of Parliament’s Permanent Justice Committee, Parliamentarian John Hart, announced that he is requesting a priority meeting to discuss the issue and obtain clarity regarding the department’s current operational challenges.

The John Hart Seeks Urgent Meeting On Censo Delays initiative comes after Aruba Ombudsman Jurima Bryson issued a public letter expressing concern about access limitations affecting citizens who require registration services.

According to the Ombudsman’s office, there are indications of a structural imbalance between the number of registration requests being submitted and the department’s available capacity to process them. This situation has reportedly resulted in long waiting periods and significant consequences for affected individuals.

Hart stated that the issue is not new and that the AVP faction has been monitoring complaints from the community for some time.

The John Hart Seeks Urgent Meeting On Censo Delays effort aims to address challenges faced by residents who have recently received residency permits, as well as Arubans returning to the island after living abroad who need to re-register.

Without proper registration, individuals may encounter difficulties accessing essential services such as AZV healthcare coverage, education, employment opportunities, banking services, social benefits, insurance, and housing.

Hart has requested that officials from the Department of Civil Registry and Population Registry provide Parliament with information regarding the current situation, operational capacity, causes of the delays, and potential solutions under consideration.

The John Hart Seeks Urgent Meeting On Censo Delays proposal is intended to promote transparency and identify practical solutions rather than assign blame.

Hart emphasized that Parliament has a responsibility to oversee public services and ensure that citizens receive timely access to essential government services.

The John Hart Seeks Urgent Meeting On Censo Delays discussion is expected to focus on improving efficiency and ensuring that residents can obtain critical registration services within a reasonable timeframe.
