Michel Henriquez, Director of Serlimar, has clarified why some households on the island do not have water tanks, known locally as toters. Speaking in an interview with DIARIO, Henriquez addressed recent indications that these units are missing from certain properties. He explained that the absence of a tank can be attributed to several factors, ranging from logistical delays to the specific circumstances of the residents.
According to Henriquez, some clients may have requested a toter but are still awaiting delivery, while in other cases, the unit may have been removed or the family never requested one. He also noted that financial or social difficulties can play a role. However, he stated that this situation can be remedied if clients seek assistance. Residents facing financial hardship can visit the Department of Social Affairs (DAS) to obtain a special voucher. This voucher includes a special rate that enables households to secure the installation of a Serlimar toter.
The Director emphasized that clients must take the initiative to arrange these matters, though the Serlimar Customer Services department is available to provide support. Henriquez reiterated that Serlimar has spent years trying to convince residents to install toters at their homes. To facilitate this process, the company has launched a new client portal on its website. This platform allows users to access various services online, eliminating the need to visit the Serlimar office or the MFA in Noord. Additionally, a new online complaint portal, established in collaboration with the Ombudsman, is now accessible.
