AVP Parliamentarian Carlos Bermudez expressed satisfaction this week regarding the publication of the new price list for the Taxi Price List sector. Bermudez, who had previously raised concerns about delays in updating rates, welcomed the move as a significant step for drivers awaiting a revision.
The last official adjustment to taxi tariffs occurred in 2018, causing many drivers to lose confidence in the possibility of a new list. Bermudez acknowledged that the process took longer than desirable but noted that revising the tariff system is a complex task. He attributed the delays to accumulated challenges inherited by the AVP-Futuro Cabinet.
“I completely understand the concerns drivers lived with during recent years. After eight years without an update, it is natural many thought the process would take too long,” Bermudez stated. He commended Minister of Transport Arthur Dowers and his team for the result but emphasized there is still work to do.
Bermudez called on taxi drivers to actively help eliminate price abuse by informing passengers about the official platform, www.Taxi.aw, where users can consult the tariff.
