Police in Aruba are currently investigating an unusual traffic incident that resulted in significant property damage in the San Fuego district. The collision occurred shortly after noon on Monday, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement and emergency services to the residential area.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers determined that a truck with a trailer (trekker cu oplegger) had been undergoing service at a local mechanic’s garage. For reasons currently under investigation, the vehicle began to move independently while unoccupied. The unmanned truck exited the workshop, traveled across the street, and partially collided with a residence located on the opposite side.
According to the police report, the driver was present when the vehicle started moving but was unable to re-enter the cabin in time to stop it. Authorities noted that due to the weight and speed of the truck, a physical intervention would likely have resulted in serious injury.
Fortunately, no bystanders or residents were injured during the event. However, the house sustained considerable structural damage. The Aruba Police Force has since secured the location and continues to investigate the mechanical and operational factors that contributed to the accident.
