ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Aruba celebrated a historic milestone this week with the official groundbreaking ceremony for the FIFA Forward 7 Turf Project at S.V. Nacional.

The project marks the first of seven football clubs in Aruba that will receive new artificial turf fields through FIFA’s development initiative.

Representatives from FIFA, Edelgrass, Aruba Football Federation (AVB), the Ministry of Education and Sports, S.V. Nacional, and other stakeholders attended the ceremony.

Officials described the project as FIFA’s largest investment and one of the biggest construction initiatives Edelgrass will complete in Aruba.

According to AVB President Randolf Laclé, the vision for the project began in 2018 with the goal of improving football infrastructure for Aruba’s clubs and athletes.

The project is expected to strengthen sports development and improve playing conditions for football across the island.
