AVP Parliamentarian Carlos Anthony Bermudez has submitted a motion to initiate technical studies for the construction of a modern roundabout at the intersection of Palm Beach and Caya Nelson Florencio Sprok. The proposal was introduced during the recent parliamentary discussion of the 2026 budget for the Department of Public Works (DOW) and received unanimous approval from the 17 attending members.
The intersection is a critical point for local infrastructure, frequently used by residents, employees, tourists, and business owners. Bermudez noted that the area currently experiences significant traffic delays and safety hazards. The proposed roundabout is designed to improve traffic flow and safety, incorporating adequate lighting and landscaping without compromising visibility for drivers.
Highlighting the AVP-FUTURO cabinet’s focus on infrastructure and quality of life, Bermudez emphasized that responsible governance requires proactive planning. He acknowledged that a project of this magnitude cannot be completed overnight but insisted that beginning the necessary studies now is a vital step toward sustainable solutions. The Parliamentarian noted that this initiative aims not only to benefit Palm Beach residents but also the thousands of daily commuters traveling to hotels, schools, and businesses.
Following the budget proceedings, Bermudez expressed confidence in the government’s commitment to modernizing Aruba’s roadways. “Hunto nos ta fuerte y nos lo haci e diferencia,” Bermudez stated, underlining the importance of collaboration in advancing district development.
