ORANJESTAD (AAN) – As part of the annual Kingdom-wide Dodenherdenking ceremony held on May 4, Aruba honored those who lost their lives or were killed during World War II and later conflicts or peacekeeping missions carried out in the name of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Governor of Aruba, His Excellency Alfonso Boekhoudt, together with his wife Hanneke Boekhoudt-Koetse, attended the commemorative ceremony at the “Monument voor Antilliaanse Gevallenen” in Oranjestad.
During the ceremony, two minutes of silence were observed in remembrance of the fallen. The Governor and his wife also laid a wreath to pay tribute and show respect for those who sacrificed their lives.
The annual event remains an important tradition across the Kingdom, preserving the memory of war victims and honoring their contribution to freedom and peace.
