Scarcity of Affordable Homes for Purchase or Rent Continues in Aruba

ORANJESTAD (AAN) – Aruba’s real estate market has been facing significant challenges, particularly regarding the availability of affordable homes for purchase or rent. Over the past year, locals have struggled to find affordable housing options, with many newcomers from the Netherlands also facing difficulties in securing housing at prices they were accustomed to before arriving.

The situation has raised concerns, as Minister of Housing has recently addressed the shortage of land available for construction and the long waitlists for government housing. Realtor Eva Wever shared her insights into the current state of the real estate market, emphasizing that the sector is moving rapidly, with a lot of focus on listings, prices, and the dream of finding the perfect home.

For real estate brokers and agents, the work is far from a typical 9-to-5 job. They are dedicated to providing clients with immediate responses, availability, and personal attention, often working late into the night, on weekends, and even on holidays. The service level expected in this industry requires constant availability, but often, the results fall short of expectations.

One of the biggest challenges is the scarcity of homes available for local families. According to Eva, affordable listings within a realistic budget are rare, and when they do appear, they are quickly bought up. Local families are finding it increasingly difficult to access affordable housing options, with demand far outweighing the available supply.

Eva Wever, a realtor at Bold Properties, continues to search for ways to help the local community navigate this difficult market. She emphasized that real estate is not just about properties but about helping people, especially families in need. Her dedication is driven by her belief that every local family deserves a fair chance at owning a home.

In response to the housing shortage, Eva is calling on those with properties for sale at affordable prices to reach out to her, stating, “If you have a home or property that is priced fairly for locals, please contact me at 560-0029.”
