A resident has uncovered a small illegal dumping site tucked away in a side street in the Bushiri area, away from the main road. The discarded waste appeared to be household garbage left directly on the spot rather than properly disposed of through available collection services.
The discovery highlights an ongoing issue across Aruba, where improper waste disposal continues to pose environmental and public health concerns despite accessible and affordable garbage collection options. Two companies on the island offer collection services at reasonable rates, and smaller households can share bins to keep costs even lower.
Authorities and community leaders continue to urge residents to dispose of waste responsibly. Illegal dumping not only harms the environment but also undermines community cleanliness and overall wellbeing.
