Minister of Justice, Mr. Arthur Dowers, along with the Aruba Immigration team, welcomed the Minister of Justice from Sint Maarten, Nathalie Tackling, for a strategic presentation on the modern system that Aruba is implementing at its airport. This meeting confirms Aruba’s position as a regional leader in innovation, safety, and efficiency in Aruba immigration control.
The focus of the presentation was the RADEX system, which operates at immigration checkpoints and also at e-gates. This system enables a fast, secure, and reliable process, reducing wait times and strategically strengthening Aruba immigration control.
After the immigration checkpoints, the delegation visited the US CBP preclearance area, where they received an explanation of the integrated system that processes thousands of passengers heading to the United States daily. This system includes technologies such as APIS/ATS/TECS, Global Entry, and biometric systems, which accelerate passenger flow, especially for American citizens.
A key part of the presentation was the recent investments made at Queen Beatrix Airport as part of the Gateway 2030 plan. Aruba has implemented a fully automated baggage handling system, eliminating a key step in the preclearance process and making the overall process highly efficient. Passengers heading to the United States no longer need to pick up their baggage before CBP clearance; the baggage is screened according to CBP standards and sent directly to storage until it is loaded onto the aircraft.
The integration of the baggage system with the passenger screening system has led to remarkable improvements in efficiency. In practice, queues in the preclearance area have become minimal, significantly improving the travel experience.
The presentation concluded with a tour of the new baggage handling facility, which includes state-of-the-art security technology and two additional screening phases that comply with international standards.
The Government of Aruba continues to focus on strategic investments in infrastructure and technology to ensure a modern, secure, and efficient Aruba immigration control. This direction not only strengthens control but also positions Aruba as a reliable and competitive hub in the region.
