WEB Aruba has recently appointed Alfredo Ruiz as the new Chief Technical Officer (CTO), marking an important step in the company’s growth and transition toward more sustainable energy. The role of CTO is now part of the official organizational structure as per the company’s regulations. Utilities Aruba, the parent company, took a significant step by naming a dedicated CTO to further strengthen WEB Aruba’s operations.
As CTO, Alfredo Ruiz will lead and enhance the technical aspects of WEB Aruba, providing strategic direction in the development and optimization of production systems. The management of WEB Aruba now includes CEO Alfredo Koolman and CTO Alfredo Ruiz, working together to shape the future of energy on the island.
Alfredo Ruiz is an experienced engineer with a background in refinery and utility systems. He began his career as a combustion engineer at the Aruba refinery and has over 25 years of experience managing and engineering various production and distribution systems, including fossil and sustainable energy, desalination plants, waste management, and natural gas systems. He also has significant experience with wind and solar energy projects and energy storage solutions. His most recent role was at Aqualectra on the neighboring island of Curaçao.
WEB Aruba is now embarking on a new corporate strategy for the upcoming years, with a strong focus on transitioning from fossil-based energy to more sustainable solutions. This shift is becoming increasingly important, especially given the current global geopolitical situation. As part of the management team, CEO Koolman and CTO Ruiz will oversee and guide WEB Aruba to continue providing reliable, sustainable, and affordable water and energy in the present and future.
