The Ministry of Health, under the leadership of Minister Wyatt-Ras, has officially formalized the National Commission for Rehabilitation and Support (Stuurgroep revalidatie en hulpmiddelen) through a Ministerial Decree, marking a strategic advancement in the Aruba Revalidacion y Apoyo 2026 initiative.

This project aims to modernize and elevate Aruba’s healthcare system, with a focus on creating a more coordinated and accessible care system for the community. The establishment of the National Commission addresses the growing need for specialized personnel and provides a structured approach for future healthcare improvements.

The Revalidacion y Apoyo 2026 plan includes an analysis of the current workforce and support devices to identify current needs and future demands for specialists in the field. This plan ensures the community will have access to quality care by trained professionals and specialists.

The Commission includes key stakeholders from Aruba’s healthcare system, ensuring alignment in direction and execution. Under the Ministry’s guidance, this group will serve as the driving force behind the Revalidacion y Apoyo 2026 plan’s implementation.

Key partners include:

  • Directie Volksgezondheid (DVG)
  • Uitvoeringsorgaan AZV (UO-AZV)
  • Horacio E. Oduber Hospital (HOH)
  • Huisartsen Vereniging Aruba (HAVA)
  • Arubaanse Vereniging van Specialisten (ASHA)
  • Aruba Vereniging van Fysiotherapeuten (AVF)
  • Plataforma pa Personanan cu Limitacion (PPL)

In collaboration with PAHO and aligning with the WHO vision, this initiative will contribute to the development of a quality rehabilitation system in Aruba.

The project is also aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3, 4, 8, and 10), focusing on health, well-being, and social participation. Additionally, the project emphasizes rehabilitation for persons with disabilities, focusing on enhancing their participation, independence, and quality of life.

By developing a coordinated rehabilitation system, Aruba aims to create more inclusive and accessible care for individuals in need of support, fostering a human-centered and sustainable healthcare framework for the island’s future.

Minister Wyatt-Ras stated, “We are building a strong foundation to ensure that all people can feel that Revalidacion y Apoyo 2026 is a vital, humane, and sustainable pillar for our island.”
