The cultural celebrations concluded on Sunday with a Cultural Explosion, featuring a variety of singing, dance, and artistic performances. During that event, the winners in the children’s, youth, and adult categories were also presented.

Focus on Culture and Identity in San Nicolas

The events reflect the effort to strengthen the culture and identity of San Nicolas so that the district can continue growing as a center of urban art and cultural activity.

At the same time, artist Rasheed Lowe, in collaboration with Tito Bolívar, is working on a new mural on the building of Chocolate City Bar & Restaurant on Bernardstraat, dedicated to the renowned Aruban musician Julio Bernardo Euson.

According to the report, the mural is nearly complete and already shows an impressive artistic tribute to Euson’s musical and cultural legacy. The project forms part of the broader vision to continue transforming San Nicolas into an open-air art gallery that highlights Aruba’s talent and cultural history.

First Night Brings Community Together

The first evening of the event showed how Feria Patriotico Week opens at Aruba’s Carnival & Entertainment Village as a gathering point for community, culture, and local talent.

The night began with a solemn moment led by Scouting Aruba, which was responsible for the raising of the Aruban flag. This was followed by a performance of the national anthem “Aruba Dushi Tera” sung by Stephanie Quant.

This opening created an atmosphere of respect and patriotism among those present.

After the official ceremony, the audience enjoyed a range of cultural programs, including traditional dance performances that brought color and heritage to the stage.

The festive mood continued with The Rhythm Brassband, which energized the crowd and prepared the stage for the presentation of the monarchs of Aruba’s Carnival 72.

Local Carnival Talent on Stage

During the evening, several young carnival artists had the opportunity to present their music and talent.

The performances included:

  • Brooke Lockhart, Youth Queen of Carnival 72

  • Ashandric Richardson (Jammer Jr.) with Carnaval is a Party

  • Stephanie Quant with the youth tumba Eynan mi ta bay

  • Zaidyen Donker (Johnny Boy) as Johnny Boy The Instructor

  • Jaylon Machado with Amor

The audience also enjoyed performances by winners of youth and children’s carnival competitions, including:

  • Roadmarch Queen Infantil Adeliza Henriquez (Reina Fantasia)

  • Roadmarch King Youth Brayden Elisabeth (Stinging B Junior)

  • Rei di Tumba Infantil Jaymerson Kelly

A special highlight of the night was the performance by Melody Franken, Youth Tumba Queen of Carnival 72, with her song Ban Cumi, which received a very positive reaction from the audience.

The evening ended with a strong musical performance by Shine Music, keeping the celebration alive until the close of the event.

Prime Minister Mike Eman expressed satisfaction with the community participation and the positive energy surrounding the fair, saying it once again showed how culture, music, and tradition can bring people together.

The Feria Patriotico Week opens at Aruba’s Carnival & Entertainment Village as part of the celebrations of 40 years of Status Aparte and 50 years of the Aruban Anthem and Flag.
