Super Do It Center celebrates 50 years of the Anthem and Flag and 40 years of Status Aparte with a major cultural event that will bring the community together on Wednesday, March 18, at the parking lot of its main location in Shaba.
During a press conference, Lisanne Coffy, Public Relations representative of Super Do It Center, announced the event and explained that the company wants to join Aruba in commemorating the island’s important national milestones.
This year Aruba celebrates 50 years of its national anthem and flag and 40 years of Status Aparte, which represents the island’s constitutional autonomy within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Coffy said the company, which is fully locally owned and one of the largest supermarkets on the island, wanted to contribute to the celebrations in a meaningful way.
Cultural Event for the Community
According to Coffy, the event will take place on March 18 at the Super Do It Center Shaba parking lot, with the store opening from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
“We as a completely local company want to celebrate this important national moment together with the community,” Coffy explained.
The celebration will include cultural activities, music, and community entertainment throughout the day.
Book Signing and Cultural Activities
Between 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM, writer Claudia Ponson will be present to sign copies of her book “R.A.T.S.”, which has recently gained strong interest among readers.
Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase the book and receive an autograph from the author during the event.
Music, Dance, and Family Entertainment
Event organizer Lyonel Dirksz explained that the parking lot will be partially closed to allow the creation of a special event setup for the celebration.
The program will begin with traditional music, followed by performances including Arthur Kelly with his Cah’i Orgel.
The event will also include:
-
A large playground area for children aged 0 to 6
-
Dance performances by groups such as Gucci Dancers and Destiny Dancers
-
Appearances by artists who recently participated in the Un Canto pa Aruba festival
-
Traditional games for families and youth
-
Prize opportunities for participants
Classic Car Show and Final Performance
Starting at 3:00 PM, the event will also feature a classic car show, where visitors can admire vintage vehicles.
The celebration will conclude later in the afternoon with a performance by Robert Maduro and his band Azucar, bringing the cultural program to a festive close.
Super Do It Center emphasized that many of the activities will be free for the public, allowing families, youth, and visitors to celebrate Aruba’s national heritage together.
